Death of Mother Caterina Savoia F.D.C.C.
Mother Caterina Savoia of the Canossian Sisters, Daughters of Charity, went peacefully to her reward on 2 May 1980 at the Canossian Convent Infirmary, after 60 years of Religious life, 57 of which she spent in mission lands without ever returning to Udine, Italy, her homeland.
Assigned to the province of Shensi, China, in the troublesome years from 1929 to 1952, she worked there with great zeal among the poor and the orphans, often fully responsible as local Superior.
When in 1952 all the Sisters were compelled to leave for Hong Kong, she did not stay here for long. She was soon given the responsible task of pioneer in the opening and development of the new Canossian house in Coloane, Macao.
As the valiant woman of the Gospel, Mother Caterina, humble,
submissive, simple and confident in the Lord, never refused anything that would
be for God’s glory. May the Good Lord be her infinite reward.
