Sr. BELIVEAU, Regina (Marie Celine) MIC
Sister Regina Beliveau MIC
Word has been received recently from the Mother house of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of Montreal, that Sister Regina Beliveau, M.I.C. (formerly known as Sister Marie Celine), a former Hong Kong missionary, has died.
She had returned to Canada only last July, having spent more
than 35 years of her religious life as a missionary in China and in Hong Kong.
Sister Regina entered the M.I.C. Congregation in 1929. In 1933 she was sent on
her first mission to Manchuria, where she worked until the missionaries were
forced to leave in 1948. After a few years of service in Canada, she was then
assigned to Hong Kong where she taught music and singing at the Good Hope School
for many years, endearing herself to her many students and others by her
gentleness, her concern for others and her deep and warm love for all who came
in contact with her. For the six years ending last July, Sister Regina was
Superior at the Good Hope Convent. In July she returned to Canada for other
services there. Hardly had she assumed her new tasks when she became aware that
a terminal cancer was fast sweeping her away. She had time to write to her many
friends before leaving peacefully to return to the Father.
