Trappists pay homage of Father Jen Stanislus

Father Stanislus Jen of the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance (OCSO) passed away on 4 January 2003.

He was born in 1920. In 1936, he followed the footsteps of his older brother in joining the first monastry founded by the order in China. In 1940, he was transferred to a monastry in Hebei Province where he was one of the first seminarians to be admitted.

He took his final vows in 1945 and was ordained in 1948. After his ordination, he pursued further studies in Rome where he translated many of the works of his order into Chinese. Afterwards he worked with devotion at the dairy farm of the order in Hong Kong for a number of years.

He was buried at the Our Lady of Joy Abbey, Lantau Island on 18 January 2003. The order appealed to fellow Catholic to pray for Father Jen.
